computer network

welcome back guys......
this week i learn about computer network which means a group of interconnected computers
e.g:internet,ATM,school network,e-banking,home network,etc.

so,lets check it out what else the important topic i have learnt....

Advantages using  a computer network
  • resource sharing (hardware & software)
  • information sharing (easy accessibility from anywhere)
  • promote communication and collaboration (email & message broadcast)
Major component of computer network
   -communication media
    -interconnecting devices
     -computers
      -networking software
       -applications

basic networking concepts is topology (physical layout of the network), protocol (rules in data communication), and architecture (how software and hardware are integrated to form a working).

3 elements that must exist in data communication are sender, medium and receiver.next, characteristics of data transmission are bandwidth, analog or digital, and serial or parallel (order of bits).

thats all for my first session in this week...i'll continue with my second and third session later ok....tq 4 reading my entry.....

COMPUTER SOFTWARE

Assalamualaikum.........welcome back to my blog.....
This week i will talk about computer software which the meaning of it is intangible part of a computer(physically cannot see).It s been divided into 3 categories that is system software(controls & maintains the operations of the computer and its devices),application software(makes users more productive and assist them with their tasks) and programming language(enables people(called programmers)to communicate instructions to a computers).Next, software layers consists of application, operating system, device drivers and system software(BIOS).

For the next session,i learned about programming language(PL) which means a language for a programmer to communicate with a computer. There are two types of PL which is low -level language and high-level language.Low-level language have 2 types that are machine language(1st generation PL) and assembly language(2nd generation PL).Higher-Level Language is more powerful than assembly language and there are 3 generation of its that are 3rd,4th and 5th generation language.

Now,let's continue with my 3rd session where i learned about application software which designed to make users more productive with personal tasks. Its also to make business activities more efficient,to assist with graphics & multimedia projects,to support home, personal & educational tasks and to facilitate communications(e.g:email & skype). Some categories of application software are commercial software, shareware, freeware and public domain software. They are also known as open source software.

computer hardware basics

hallo guys...
do you know that the earliest recorded calculating devices is abacus?i just get to know it and the first generation is vacuum tube while the second one is transistors, integrated circuits(IC) is the third generation and the fourth one is VLSI/ULSI.Hence,the fifth generation are now and the future that everyone responsible to create it.The computer architechture include the control, arithmetic logic unit, memory, input and output. There are some categories of computers based on thier size, capability and price such as embedded computer(e.g.GPS),mobile devices(e.g.iPad,iPhone),personal computers(e.g.laptop),midrange serves(e.g.hp,digital camera),mainframes(ATM machine) and supercomputers(e.g.Cray 1 supercomputer).

Next,we move to the system unit components which includes processor, memory module, expansion cards(sound card, modem card, video card and network interface card) and ports and connectors.Motherboard is the main circuit board in system unit that contains chips, integrated circuits, and transistors. Its also known as system board. Then,CPU is a central processing unit which has an input, processing and output as its architecture. There are also two type of memory which are random access memory(RAM) and read only memory(ROM).RAM has volatile memory while ROM is non volatile in nature.

I will proceed to the next topic to give the definition of input which means any data and instructions entered into the memory of a computer. The examples of input device are keyboard, game controllers, pointing devices, digital cameras, voice input, video input, scanners and reading devices(optical scanners, optical readers, bar code readers, magnetic stripe card readers and last but not least MICR.Output is data that has been processed into a useful form. Some of the examples are speaker, printer, monitor and facsimile.Examples of storage are hard disks, flash memory storage, optical discs and others which keeps data, instructions, and information.

Thats all from me this week........thank you.....:-)
